The 2012 vintage in Marlborough experienced a cooler spring with delayed bud burst, followed by damp conditions in the summer month of December that led to slow growth of the fruit. This created smaller bunches of fruit with intensity and concentrated flavour.



The Sauvignon Blanc grapes were sourced from two separate blocks on our vineyard in the Lower Wairau Area of Marlborough. The Pinot Gris grapes were sourced from our Seaview Vineyard in the Awatere Valley. The parcels were harvested individually over a period of three weeks. The Sauvignon Bland and Pinot Gris were harvested and fermented separately, using specialist yeast strains to enhance varietal character. A long cool fermentation took place over four weeks. The parcels which were combination of Sauvignon Blanc (55%) and Pinot Gris (45%) were then blended, stabilised and bottled.
