Award winning wine from sustainable craftsmanship and lovely taste

Peter Yealands wines are made with the earth in mind, after all if the earth didn’t supply us with such rich resources we would not have wine in the first place. This is why Yealand wines are made in a sustainable way that does not impede nature in any damaging way.

Yealand wines lead the world in sustainable wine-making and hence are leaders in the new evolution of beverage production.

This Sauv Pinot Gris has a distinct flavour with tropical notes of Guava and underlying stone fruit. The Palate is full and juicy with a crisp finish – enjoy with a range of dishes, including Asian inspired cuisine and fresh seafood platters.

Vineyard

The 2012 vintage in Marlborough experienced a cooler spring with delayed bud burst, followed by damp conditions in the summer month of December that led to slow growth of the fruit. This created smaller bunches of fruit with intensity and concentrated flavour.

Winemaking

The Sauvignon Blanc grapes were sourced from two separate blocks on our vineyard in the Lower Wairau Area of Marlborough. The Pinot Gris grapes were sourced from our Seaview Vineyard in the Awatere Valley. The parcels were harvested individually over a period of three weeks. The Sauvignon Bland and Pinot Gris were harvested and fermented separately, using specialist yeast strains to enhance varietal character. A long cool fermentation took place over four weeks. The parcels which were combination of Sauvignon Blanc (55%) and Pinot Gris (45%) were then blended, stabilised and bottled.
