One Tree Hill is a prominent Auckland landmark.
In terms of the area covered, One Tree Hill is one of the largest volcanoes in the Auckland Volcanic Field. One Tree Hill, or Maungakiekie, housed a thriving community for approximately 900 years. It was the scene of successive conquests and occupations and much of the hill became developed and fortified over time by the various tribes which lived there.
