Taniwha Waka Bone Carving
Taniwha is the Maori name for a water monster. Taniwha was often considered by Maori to be the guardian of their water source.
The Maori place a carved Taniwha on the bow of the Waka (canoe) to provide spiritual protection.
This unique piece was hand crafted in New Zealand by one of New Zealand's leading bone carvers.
Each piece is unique and therefore may vary slightly in size, colour and markings.
