Taniwha is the Maori name for a water monster. Taniwha was often considered by Maori to be the guardian of their water source. This Taniwha takes the form of a Tuatara.
This carving has been smoked with honey which enhances the natural bone texture.
Hand crafted in New Zealand by one of New Zealand's leading bone carvers.
