Barkers of Geraldine
Barkers of Geraldine is a family run business from the tiny town of Geraldine in the Canterbury region on the South Island of New Zealand. The story starts in 1969 with Constance Barker, who was an avid preserver and grower of fruit and vegetables. The business grew slowly, but steadily, initially producing Elderberry Wines, then fruit juices and now, 43 years on, their famous jams. Barkers of Geraldine employs over 150 local people and always attempts to source local produce where possible. Their blackcurrants come from South Canterbury, apricots from Central Otago, raspberries and boysenberries from Nelson, blackberries from Otaki and citrus fruits from Poverty bay.
