This unique piece is made at the Splashy art, pottery and tile studio in Horotiu, New Zealand. It is durable and made according to Splashy’s time tested process.

How the Ceramic Fantail is made:

• A mould is filled with soft clay
• The soft clay is then fettled with a damp sponge
• As the clay hardens it becomes ‘greenware’ and can now be physically handled
• The greenware is then blasted in the bisque kiln for six to seven hours at 900 degrees Celsisus
• Splashy’s team of artists then apply paint to the product
• It is then blasted again in the bisque kiln
• This is followed by a final blasting process in the galzing kiln at 1160 degrees Celsius
• Finally the product is then inspected for any faults
