Splashy’s Ceramic Pukeko is hand painted and finished by a team of talented artists. They employ special paints made according to Splashy’s own secret recipe. This gives their works of art a distinctive bright tone and character.

How the Splashy Ceramic Pukeko is made:

• Soft clay is put into a mould and left to set
• When the soft clay hardens slightly it is gently fettled with a damp sponge
• The clay then hardens and becomes ‘greenware’
• The greenware is then blasted in a bisque kiln for six to seven hours at 900 degrees Celsius.
• Splashy artists then apply their secret paints to the product
• After painting it is again blasted in the bisque kiln
• This is followed by further blasting in the glazing kiln at 1160 degrees
• The product is then inspected for any faults
