Bob Steiner’s work is contemporary yet has elelments of classic styled pottery – partially owing to his background in pottery making. This mix of new and old is also put together in a way that celebrates New Zealand nature at it’s best. Bob loves the local environment – clean green and most importantly rare, and mostly endemic. This uniqueness of isolated evolution is unfortunately not found in many places in the world of today.

Bob manages to decorate his works with sometimes iconic and sometimes obscure plants or animals which have roamed free in New Zealands forests for thousands of years. This particular plate presents one of the better known plants and national icons of New Zealand sports teams – the Silver Fern.
